Spicy Tamarind Paloma Mocktail: A Zero-Proof Cinco de Mayo Drink

Tangy, smoky, and bright with a slow kick of heat. Mexico’s beloved highball, fully zero-proof.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz tamarind concentrate (or 2 tbsp tamarind paste dissolved in 2 oz water)
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave syrup
  • 2 oz grapefruit sparkling water or club soda
  • Pinch of cayenne or 2 dashes of hot sauce (optional)
  • Tajín-salt rim and lime wheel, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rim a tall glass with lime juice and dip into a Tajín-salt mixture.
  2. Fill the glass with ice, then add grapefruit juice, tamarind, lime juice, agave, and cayenne.
  3. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Top with sparkling water and garnish with a lime wheel.
